Rich history of Las Vegas Strip

The history of Las Vegas dates back many decades and this started as a highly vegetated wetlands in the South of Nevada.  Rafael Rivera, a young Mexican Scout discovered Las Vegas Valley in search of water.  Las Vegas which means The Meadows in Spanish is the place where John Fremont expedition camped in 1844; 14 years after Rafael Rivera discovered the Las Vegas Valley.

Many years after that, Mormons settlers traveled to Las Vegas and built their fort on Las Vegas.  Remains of the then Mormon fort are now a historical site found in the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Washington Avenue.
The boom of Las Vegas and its popularity started when railroad developers thought that Las Vegas Valley would be a good location for stop facilities.  From this, saloons, stores and boarding houses are built in the summer of 1904.

From this day onwards, Las Vegas stood up to be an entertainment center from being a stop facility.  Gaming, entertainment and accommodations started the rich history that paved the way to the Las Vegas Strip.

Another important aspect that may be attributed to the rich history of Las Vegas Strip is the fact that the first resort casino was built by a mobster.  Bugsy or Benjamin Siegel is the first to own a resort in the Las Vegas Strip that led the way to the popularity of hotels, casinos, resort hotels and huge convention centers.

Several properties are still alive in the Las Vegas Strip but they have changed names, owners, renovations and a lot of improvements that you may not recognize them from their predecessors.

For a time, black people are not admitted to hotels in Las Vegas, thus Moulin Rouge was built in the outskirts in 1955.  The owner of this non-racial entertainment center is heavyweight champion Joe Louis.

The modern-day Las Vegas does not carry any trace of the rich vegetated wetlands it used to be.  Las Vegas now is the center of entertainment in the world.  It is one of the most lighted areas in the United States.  You can go to the space and look at earth; you will never miss Las Vegas because of its colorful lights and structures.

The history of Las Vegas has been colorful, but the future looks far brighter because of the developments that are set to stand in this area of Nevada.

The Las Vegas CityCenter is set to be the largest mixed use complex with its 76 acres of high-rise structures that will offer the same diversity that Las Vegas Strip has offered the world for years.  This center is set to enliven the popularity of Las Vegas in huge proportions.
